What is CBD crystal?
CBD crystal is a crystalline form of a cannabinoid – cannabidiol (CBD). It is this phytonutrient in its pure form, without any other phytonutrients. A light-coloured, sometimes slightly milky crystal that may look like a lump of sugar or salt. It is a self-existing cannabidiol, in isolate form.
You’ve probably heard of CBD isolates. CBD crystal is an isolate. It can be used to artificially enrich CBD products such as oils or dried products. It can also be used to make CBD oils that contain only this one phytonutrient. CBD crystal is up to 99% pure cannabidiol. All other compounds contained in hemp are removed during the extraction process, leaving only this one phytocannabinoid.
This is a product specifically for those who want to use only CBD alone. For example, for medical reasons, due to allergies to other compounds in hemp, or as an additive to cosmetics or for vaporization.
CBD crystals – how to use
We’ve mentioned vaporization, cosmetics and enriching other products with crystalline CBD. This is exactly how CBD crystals are used. Let’s start with cosmetics.
In the cosmetic industry, it is usually CBD isolate that is used for manufacturing CBD cosmetics. Of course, there are products containing CBD oils on the market with the full spectrum of phytonutrients, such as our hemp cosmetics with natural hemp oil. However, many companies choose to add only crystallized CBD. CBD crystal dissolves well in oils and fats when heated, which is why it is such a popular addition to hemp cosmetics.
All of our cosmetics contain natural CBD oil in their formula.
Another method of using CBD crystals is through vapour inhalation, or vaporization. The use of CBD crystal for vaporization requires a special device that is designed to vaporize concentrates. A vaporizer that has a chamber only for heating dry material will not be suitable here!
Vaporizing pure CBD crystal has its benefits. If the product is pure, natural and fully tested, it is a safe way to provide yourself with only that one cannabinoid.
There is also a certain practice that some companies follow of enriching hemp products with crystalline CBD. Typically, these are CBD oils which can have a natural concentration of up to 15%. Companies try to enrich the oils, hence there may be products on the market whose concentration has been artificially enhanced.
Like dried CBD, which naturally has fairly low concentrations of phytocannabinoids, but when crystalline enriched, it can have up to tens of percent CBD content!
CBD crystals – vaporization
The first method which is the easiest and the most popular when it comes to using CBD crystal is vaporization. Just a really small piece of hemp crystal should be placed in the chamber of a vaporizer. When heated, the crystal changes to a liquid form and steam is produced. To make the device easier to clean, the CBD crystal is often used along with dried CBD to which it sticks after the inhalation session is over. Then, you can clean the vaporizer much easier.
In our store you will find three types of vaporizers.
There is also a method of enriching cosmetics with CBD crystal, even in the comfort of your home! Simply heat the crystal to liquid form and mix well into a cosmetic of your choice. And that’s it! You get a cosmetic containing crystalline CBD.
CBD crystal can also be added to food, especially fats. CBD butter, CBD oil and many other types of fats can easily be enriched with cannabidiol using hemp crystal. Simply combine the heated and melted crystal with the liquid fat and you’re done. Such products can be safely added, for instance, to the meals you prepare, or used in skin care (the oil can be used to make, for example, CBD scrub). [1]
There’s no doubt that CBD crystal is a lesser-known hemp product, and you can have some strange associations, because of what it looks like. However, if it’s a natural and researched product, it can really serve you in many different ways! How you use CBD crystal is entirely up to you! There are multiple ways of using it.
