Chlorella is a green unicellular organism from the cluster of green algae. It owes its intense green color to the chlorophyll it contains. In addition, it is rich in vitamins and minerals. Chlorella is included in the group of superfoods. This is because it is used both in supporting immunity, but also in detoxifying the body. In addition, this green algae contains higher amounts of folic acid than other foods of animal origin. Chlorella, when used regularly, can also have a beneficial effect on lowering blood pressure and serum cholesterol levels [1].

Chlorella from Biowen is a selected algae enclosed in a sealed and glass container. Its high quality is also evidenced by the organic certificate. It assures us that the product is free from contamination by herbicides, pesticides and heavy metals – and unfortunately conventional chlorella is often contaminated, for example with mercury [2].

Chlorella – nutritional value

Chlorella contains about 330 calories per 100 grams of product. This is mainly due to its abundant protein content, as there are as many as 58 grams of it. Daily diet, unfortunately, is often poor in protein, and even more so in those of plant origin. So it is worthwhile to enrich the daily diet with chlorella. It can serve as an addition to smoothies, ice cream, cakes and pastries. In addition to introducing additional nutritional value, it will also improve the color of the dish, as it can give it a beautiful green color.

Chlorella contains about 12 grams of fat. With 95% of the fat it contains being unsaturated fatty acids, which are essential for the proper functioning of the body. This is because they affect the regulation of cholesterol levels and support immunity.

Biowen green bio chlorella contains about 12 grams of dietary fiber. Daily diet, unfortunately, is often rich in highly processed food, which is characterized by a low content of dietary fiber, which is necessary for the proper functioning of the body. Daily we should consume about 15 grams of fiber per 1,000 calories from the diet. Dietary fiber reduces intestinal transit time, thus preventing constipation and colon cancer. In addition, it increases the weight of the stool and increases the frequency of bowel movements.

Minerals and vitamins in chlorella

Chlorella, in addition to its high chlorophyll content, also contains vitamins and minerals that are essential for the body. And among them we can find such as iron and riboflavin – otherwise known as vitamin B2.

Iron performs a number of functions in the body. Unfortunately, many people are deficient in it, which results in the development of anemia. Such people tire faster and complain of dry and brittle nails and falling out hair. In addition, anemics are more prone to infections and may have pale skin. Chlorella Biowen is a very good source of iron. It contains as much as 101 milligrams of it in 100 grams of product, which meets the daily standard at 724%. Iron is an essential micronutrient for the formation of erythrocytes, hemoglobin and oxygen transport. In addition, it is essential for cell division, proper functioning of the immune system and reduces fatigue. We can increase the absorption of plant-derived iron by including vitamin C in the meal – just add some rosehip or lemon juice to a smoothie containing chlorella.
Riboflavin is essential for energy production in energy processes, is involved in the proper metabolism of iron, and affects the normal appearance of the skin and mucous membranes. Bio chlorella contains about 7 mg of vitamin B2, which covers almost 500% of the daily requirement. Therefore, it is worth including chlorella in your daily diet, which will positively affect the blood-forming processes taking place in the body.

Effects of chlorella on the body

Regular use of chlorella can lower cholesterol levels and exhibit antidiabetic, antioxidant and antihypertensive effects. However, it is important to pay attention to the source of chlorella. It is best to choose products from organic cultivation, as this allows you to use tested products that do not contain unwanted substances that can negatively affect health [3].
